I have found myself riveted by the 2006 World Cup, and have been glad that my work schedule has been mostly evenings this week.
The best game so far that I caught was the Trinidad and Tobago v. Sweeden. This was TaT's first appearance, and they held the Swedes to a scorless tie, earning themselves a point in their first WC contest. Kudos to them.
Today, the US played against the Czech Republic, and I have to say that it was an embarrasment. Not only did they lose in a blowout (3-0), they showed no agression, creativity with the ball, or any defensive aptitude. And this is after all the hype and the rollout of supposedly our best team ever.
Let's hope that they pick up their game when the face Italy on Saturday.
