Local Coffee, Local Markets

I have been hanging out lately again in the International City's only full-fledged coffeeshop on the north side. It's a little bit strange, as when I go in there I am usually the only customer. During the times that I have been in there, some people come in, grab their coffee, and then leave, leaving me and the two employees on our own.

The other strange thing is that this shop is in the exact same location as the one I worked for a few months ago when it was Gourmet Grounds. The barista chick is the more conversational one, while the guy barista who works there is usually silent. So when I go in and I take a break from what I am working on, she usually has something to say. This time she was asking me all about my thoughts on the previous owner and a short discussion ensued comparing the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two owners.

The final interesting fact is that the shop is called "Prinnie-Mack" named after Prinnie (the owners' dalmation) and Mack (their Scottish Terrier). The decor is dog-themed, while modern at the same time. The mood is further offset by XM Oldies Radio and "local artist" drawings of Victorian zombie horror dolls and misshapen objects.

But it's a really good cup of coffee. If your finances can afford the travel, I'd say it's necessary for you to make a trip to the International City to sample their Latte's.

Also, at work they have been really busy. As you can see from the picture below, they are also Superhero enthusiasts. When they first started assembling this structure constructed out of 12 packs of Pepsi products, we couldn't figure out what it was going to be. One co-worker guessed "it's a bird?" "nah," said a second one, "I think it's a plane..."
